9 Day: Florence-Siena-Rome-Pompei Sample Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Florence
Transfers to the hotel. Check in to the hotel and balance of the day at leisure. Orientation and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 - Florence
Morning walking tour of Florence to include the major sites; Duomo, The David at the Accademia and the Medici Chapel. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 - Florence
Morning walking tour of the Uffizi Gallery. Mid afternoon take a short ride south of Florence to the neighboring village of Impruneta located in the Tuscan hills. Visit one of the famous terracotta kilns, which is followed by dinner at the local restaurant Il Mulinaccio. Late evening return to Florence
Day 4 - Siena
Depart Florence and tour in and around San Gimignano. Lunch at Castel Vicchiomaggio a 5th century castle nestled in the Tuscan countryside. Continue to Siena, home of St. Catherine to visit the magnificent striped cathedral. Overnight in Siena
Day 5 - Rome
Motorcoach transfer to Rome. Afternoon walking tour of Rome; Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and enjoy a gelato on Pizza Novona and all the famous sites. Farewell dinner at Les Etoiles Restaurant, which is located on the roof of the Atlante Star Hotel with beautiful, views over St. Peter's Basilica.
Day 6 - Rome
Morning visit to Vatican Museum with the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica. Afternoon tour of Ancient Rome to include a visit to the Colossuem.
Day 7 - Rome / Pompei
Full day excursion out of Rome to Pompeii where a local guide brings alive the excavations found underneath the volcanic ash of Mt. Vesuvius whose violent eruption caused the deaths of many thousands and "froze" them in time. Then its onto the fashionable resort town of Sorrento located on the hills above the Mediterranean Sea. Free time to sightsee, before heading back to Rome.
Day 8 - Rome
Full day at leisure in Rome.
Day 9 - Depart Home
Return transfer to the airport.
